ECR ... Some Facts

ECR simply defined

ECR is the acronym for Emotional Core Reframing, a state-of-the-art modern approach to the therapeutic process of (what else can we call it?) ... getting better.

Throughout the history of self-help and psychotherapeutic systems (talk therapy and clinical CBT - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) there has NEVER been an approach until now, that aims to make a difference at the deeply embedded feeling core ...

EMOTIONAL refers to what is technically defined as 'affect' - the range of feelings that we have to define our environment and people in the world around us.

CORE refers to what neuroscience now knows exists at the deepest level of our subconscious reactive minds - that our whole adult emotional character is influenced by preverbal affect learnings. It's deeply within our core self. AND it's silently governing our reactions and feelings.

REFRAMING literally refers to the act of changing those core feeling states to more current and productively useful ways of reacting - emotionally and existentially.

Put simply, ECR works to help you feel better about yourself and all that occurs around you.

The Reframing process of ECR takes place in what is known as 'introversive privacy' of the subconscious. It is inward-focused and silent, with your practitioner providing expert guidance.

Seeking Core Balance

We begin this with a METAPHOR.

There is a friend of ECR in Athens who makes and sells wonderful organic skin products. One of those is a 'base' cream that creates the perfect setting in the skin for allowing the further applied products to work much more successfully and to their fullest potential.

This base cream is highly effective in enhancing whatever further product is applied. Yet, on its own, it is still a fabulous product, invigorating and refurbishing the skin in a way that means no further product may even be needed.

This parallels the effects of ECR very well. Taken alone and with no other added intention, research has shown that ECR works effectively in reframing initially-learned emotional responses - the sort of affect defining that shapes our character from our preverbal years onward.

Yet, studies have also shown that many people have found that ECR is the essential ground-work that makes the soil of change fertile and able to sustain other improvement programs and activities; general life, psychosomatic, performance of all kinds and a host of improvements that many seek through self-development courses and other options.

It is THE ULTIMATE HELP FOR SELF-HELP!

no-talk
The 'quiet factor' of ECR

ECR is completely unlike all and any other programs or therapies that are built on narrative (talk therapies) - the process of having to remember and define and talk about past developmental issues and events in your life.

It is the world's first ever effective approach to mental and emotional problems that employs the strictly 'no-talk' rule to your engagement with a practitioner.

As odd and challenging as this may seem to contemporary professional custom, ECR practitioners consider it to be "odd" that in order to make any correction and reframing to early EMOTIONAL habits, we need to define them in word form.

This is an impossibility, since early emotional (affect) habit responses HAD NO WORDS. These preverbal affect learnings are carried through into adult life in what is called "state-dependent" form - that they exist ONLY in the same state as when they were learned - without words.

Change? Reframe?

"ECR reflects this very fundamental but ignored  statement ...

if you can change your mind about one thing, you can change your mind about anything

In ECR, we utterly respect the innate ability for every person to self-balance, self-heal and make fundamental changes to their emotional CORE.

We all change our minds about many things, sometimes many times a day. Given new information and new realization, we can change our minds about emotional learnings that are deep-seated at the subconscious core. And do it IN THE NOW.

The specialty of ECR is to direct subconscious attention to that core and its preverbal constituents, at the exclusion of other considerations. That is an approach that is rare in any other therapy."

- Ian White (founder, ECR and Clinical Affectology

Over many years, research and feedback has shown that many people who come to ECR with perhaps minor issues in their lives find that 'their new core emotional self' permeates outward to all aspects of their lives; who they are, how they feel about themselves and those around them, and even relief of previous psychosomatic (mind-body) symptoms.

In fact, here's a useful thing you can do for yourself ... spend a moment quietly and ask yourself this: "Is there anything in my life I might have learned on an affect (feeling) level that could possibly be re-learned (change of mind) in a currently positive way?"
